#UncommonTypes- Some Stories by Tom Hanks.

How fascinating and curious one behaves,

When one Reads the title of  the book.

Oh! This sounds interesting,The cover is creative and then the last thing you notice is the writer/Author. Unless You already know which book you are looking for .

Uncommon Types-Some stories, Inspected the book  carefully,Going through the cover,The blurb and pausing to wonder what might this book be about ? As they rightly say “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover “ The title could be something and the the story could be altogether something else.

After  a month,Thinking it over,Do I really want to read this book? For who do I want to read the book? for the author who has written it ? or for the story.

Started reading the book. And Was interested in reading it only because it was about typewriters and written by some one  who is interested and passionate about the tool.

And I was fairly disappointed with the book. Not,Because it was Bad or because it was too much to grasp. But,May be because my expectations were set high on this Read,as its written by  A very well established and known Hollywood celebrity “TomHanks” On a tool which he is passionate about.Being  a writer too,The typewriter font (American Typewriter/Courier)being my favourite,I felt this book would be more driven by the central subject,But most of the stories,Had the very small part played by the main subject “Typewriter” a total anti-climax to a wonderful thought on the subject.

The writing styles through the book was innovate,With having all different types mentioned and  Photo for reference,The sound of typewriter being emphasised on most of the stories, was written well. And I could relate to it as a couple of years ago,Had the privilege of writing and experiencing the typewriter. .

The Newspaper Layout for the journalist story was done well. All in All there was great value and emphasis on  the designing  and very little seen into the “content” it provided.

May be,The publishers too were so drawn to the name who was writing the book “TomHanks” must have felt restricted to criticise the written matter.

it’s for the same reason why one feels not to read books on specialised subjects written by the experts ,we believe they are who could give us the right insight in the particular subjects.

Coffee tasting session

The coffee tasting workshop.

An idea that came about, during my journey from nashik to mumbai by my co-passenger.And suddenly it all got me excited to share my love of coffee with coffee lovers.

To my surprise there were quite a few interested in the session. And on the day of the session,Most of them turned up too.an hour session turned into a two hour session.

With about six different types of coffee and how to use different types of coffee makers,With some cakes and cookies.

A Sunday,That turned out to be an ideal Sunday in many ways.Looking forward to make this a regular workshop in the future.

A lot can happen over coffee and it can switch on  the best in you!

Circle movie review !!

“The circle “Adapted from a novel written by Dave eggers is about A tech worker Mae Holland played by Emma Watson as she joins the most powerful tech company which starts out as an incredibly rewarding experience, but as she works there longer, things start to fall apart.

The movie follows the story of Mae Holland, a recent college graduate who lands a job at The Circle, founded by Eamon Bailey (Tom Hanks) and Tom Stenton (Patton Oswalt) a powerful technology company Mae owes her job largely to her best friend Annie, one of the most influential people in the company. Mae starts out in Customer Experience , the firm’s customer service department, but quickly climbs the company ladder. From the beginning, Mae is impressed by amenities at the Circle, including access to top-notch technology, dorm-like housing, gyms, recreation activities and parties. Mae’s very first day at the Circle ends with a party where she encounters Francis, who remains a love interest throughout . Later, Mae encounters and quickly becomes romantically involved with a mysterious colleague named Kalden, even though she is unable to verify his status at the company, or even obtain his last name.As the story moves forward it unfolds to uncover an agenda that will affect the lives of all of humanity.

A futuristic story that shows the consequences of a connected world, A world where everybody knows every move about you.

We are already getting there.  the movie is thrilling enough for you asking for more,And wishing what life would be like in one of the Tech Companies.  film directed by James Ponsoldt and written by Ponsoldt.

MB-MEDIA BYTE !!

socialmediamanagement.png
Is media responsible for shaping the society as a group and  as an individual?
Think about it?
The media informs us of what is  happening around us,By feeding us with information which they believe might interest us.
There is so much happening around the world,In our country,State and city. That isn’t reported or becomes a eye rolling headline.
May be because,There would be limited audience, attracted to the news. It’s too good to be shared.
Since we all love to share news that have some spice in it.
Do you  know what happened last night??
It’s not part of a growth strategy for particular beat in the state,City financially ,Economically,Socially and politically and Technologically.
Media is
responsible for the outlook we perceive of our neighbouring country and culture.
But,More importantly The way the world perceives us as a country and fellow citizen of the country.
The Power,Withheld with journalist and media houses of telling the truth or what’s the truth happening around by balancing their view and not being biased, should be used in rather neutral way ,the  argument weighting the pros and Cons  should be left to the public to decide what they think.
Rather than harping  on  their own thinking as to what we think must have happened and which we truly believe it was.
Media needs to encourage the expression of Opinions and views one might have towards the freedom of the speech,And being the Voice of the voiceless who are waiting to be heard.
