Kapoor & Sons  Since 1921

Kapoor and sons the melodramatic movie by Dharma production released on the 18th March.

A typical dharma movie dramatising a simple idea by showing each character to the fullest.A predictable story as it starts from the two sons coming back home to be with their grandfather who is terribly sick and who’s only wish is to have a family photo with the title kapoor and sons since 1921 before he dies.

The movie is character driven , showing the relationship of two brothers.Their conflicts,their similarities and their jealous attitude in sibling of the same gender.

The story was dragged after the interval with not much to show and tell.Shakun Batra’s second flick after ek main aur ek tu.Had high expectations from a cast like Rishi kapoor,Alia Bhatt,Siddharth Malhotra and debutant Fawad Khan ,had all the hype . Rishi kapoors performance and theatre artist like Rajat Kapoor and Ratna pathak’s  chemistry and  expression were well timed.But as far as the juniors go they overacted mostly.

The 140 minutes could be sliced to 120 minutes by making it less about the family photo.

The relationship between the mothers and sons were flawless.

Kapoor and sons since 1921 is like the comeback of the  dharma productions after a long while .

Neerja -Movie Review !! 


Neerja The movie based on true events that took place on 5th September 1986 where Pan Am flight 73 flight travelling to U.S.A had a layover at Karachi International Airport and was Hijacked by 4 terrorist,The hijackers demand was to free there nationalist who were Imprisoned in our country(India).Neerja Bhanot the Person in charge of the flight took the responsibility with her team to secure the safety of the passengers.But in the end after a day long negotiation Neerja Bhanot was brave enough to loose her life for the safety of others .The movie Directed by Ram Madhavi who has Co-Directed Taare Zameen Par. The movie wasn’t gripping enough some loose ends the build up for the tense moments weren’t there .

The actors Shabana Azmi played the role of the mother and Yogendra Tiku played the father of Neerja.

They were well the saving grace of the film .Sonam Kapoor acted well in bits and pieces ,Specially the last 15 minutes .

The movie could have had a few minutes being sliced about 10-15 minutes could easily be edited out.

The 1st film by bling Unplugged was a great story to be captured for the celluloid especially for the millennial to know about Neerja who saved 359 lives by having the presence of mind and being Brave.

My View ,Go for the movie if you don’t know who Neerja Bhanot was ?

Wazir -Movie Review !! 

Wazir- A brave ATS officer (Farhan Akhtar) and a disabled grandmaster (Amitabh Bachchan) face a mysterious and dangerous opponent (Neil Nitin Mukesh).
The film Opens with Danish (Farhan Akthar)and Ruhi (Aditi Rao hydari) driving to the market in Delhi with their only child busy playing on the phone ,when Danish spots a car with a terror group and calls his co-team member and follows the terrorist while chasing the car and once they reach in site and start firing each other,Danish (Farhan Akthar ) realises his child is quite and bleeding,but as they reach the hospital she is declared dead Now the movie actually begins.The story begins moving in the first 15 minutes itself,and using the incident described earlier as a prologue for the story.Amitab Bachan the protagonist of the story is introduced just when you think about where is the game of chess coming? The Movie about just 103 minutes (1Hr43Min)moves fast enough for you to wonder what will happen next ? a thriller based on an Original Story by Vidhu Vinod Chopra,also the Producer of the movie gave an opportunity to Bejoy Nambiar the Director,who many thought debuted with Wazir,but in fact has made two movies earlier (Shaitan 2011) With kalki koechlin ,Rajit kapur and RajumarRao and (David 2013) both the movies which don’t really ring a bell in your mind .But Wazir making it difficult to predict the end was a thrilling movie ,based on a story of game of chess.

The background score builds the tension when needed in the movie ,most noticeable during the moments of argument between Neil Nitin Mukesh and Farhan Akthar and the moment when Farhan Akthar is chasing Amitab Bachan and trying to stop him going to the airport .

A lot of the movies these days are working on the background music and mostly working on a track that might become more popluar then the rest and “Atrangi Yaari” is one such song .This movie had to release 6 months ago ,but finally released in January this year and it was worth the wait .Wazir – Go ahead and watch this one.

Ahalya -Short film review 

Watched Ahalya a short movie written &directed by Suyog ghosh the man behind the Famous “kahaani ” and the character Bob Biswas ,who has done quite a few films earlier too Aladdin ,jhankar beat Here comes a short film “Ahalya ” which has set the social media buzzing About the mystery .ahalaya opens with a police inspector (Roy ) ringing the bell ,and enetering a house to find out about a missing model But then meets (Radhika Apte ) who he is bestowed by and when he is inspecting the place ,he matches the photo with the creation of the artist and they are very identical .The story then moved to inspector explaining why he is visiting this house and the protagonist begins telling him the inspector the story of the stone ,first he (Roy ) finds it hard to believe him then he replies ok I believe you ,walks up to the room where Radhika Apte Is and looks into the mirror ,see the protagonist face in the room ,that’s the moment when you go oh …what just happened .And soon you realise he (Roy)too has turn into a creation .a gripping story ,based on the myth Hindu mythology of the ahalya a creation of Lord bharma,and the myth is believed to be Ahalya was the most beautiful women in the world ,but was cursed by her husband old sage Gautama for infidelity .This short film by sugoy ghosh is surely a must watch with unsolved mysteries and the idea of the story being based in Bengali and trying to showcase the myths of Kolkata .

Badlapur movie review !!!

Badlapur realeased today .Its about how after robbing a bank these two robbers get into the car and shoot the lady (yami gutam)
And when the husband (Varun Dhawan )gets the news he is all set to take the revenge of his wife and sons muder .and so the story begins .
The antagonist Nawaz zuddin has done a great job as usual with some light moments to laugh off .
The theme being centred around revenge and the plot being how his anger of his wife and kids death forces him to look for the killer .
The film quite predictable in the second half ,when you see the revenge being taken by the actor (Varun dhwan ) Raghu and the movie din’t seem long .the director sriram Raghavan who also made Johnny gaddar and the last one being agent Vinod has done a wonderful job of telling a story from which there is so much to learn and another important highlight if we repeat something again and again and say it convincingly ,there are probalitites it will be taken as the truth .
The background score was like an intense movie and since it not a regular masala movies there weren’t songs .The music as I read somewhere is a complete love manual and you think about it it is got the music of being in a depressed state of mind which the movie has focused .
The female actors(huma Qureshi )(Divya Dutt)(Radhika Apte ) just dint have much to do but the male actors were never out of the role the risk might must have just paid of for Varun Dhawan here .
The movie might be difficult to digest for Varun Dhawan fans ,movie buffs but it will pick up with the word of mouth .
