Hindi Medium -Movie Review!!

Hindi Medium,A topic that represents Indian general population in a big way. The 29 states , cities and village all speak our national language and their state languages But,Still metro cities and specifically our national capital is more concerned if we cannot speak in the English Language.

A story that was well written and made,Narrating to what extent will parents go to get the Best for their child.

Top Educational institutes have made education a business.

A few highlights of the movie were how little do we bother if a foreigner cannot speak English the correct way.

But,we are ever ready to insult our citizens,If they make minor mistakes. The poor do not get the opportunity to showcase their talent and the newly rich too might have the swanky cars and huge houses but not the class.

But, If given the opportunity to have their kid being educated they too would do to be at par with the others.

But the competitiveness is driving people to take extreme routes.

Mughal-E-Azam The Musical !!!

Come 2016…After 55 years since its original Release,10 years after its Re-release now comes the “Musical Play “ and the show just wants you to have more and more of the specular show. The sets and The lights, the actors and re-creation of everything from the original was a feast to watch.

I remember,Watching the movie more than 10 years ago,When I was just 12 years and even that time I remember there was so much excitement amongst the family itself we couldn’t wait to watch and that was the same feeling even during the day of the “musical play” And there are few love stories you can watch for the costumes,Large than life experience and this is one of them.

Salim, an emperor’s son, falls in love with a beautiful courtesan. He is determined to be with her, even if it means waging a hopeless war against his father. The movie a classic, First released in 1960 Starring Dilip Kumar, Madhubala and Prithviraj Kapoor, this epic is known for its direction, music, sets, costumes and also for the lead pair: Madhubala and Dilip Kumar ,The film’s conception began in 1944 but it took many years before the film was actually shot. It went through a series of changes. Firstly, the financier had backed out. Secondly, the cast went through several changes and the cost of production for one song was reportedly more than the entire budget of other films that were made at that time. It finally released in 1960 and is said to have broken all records at the box office.

Mughal-e-Azam became the first full-length feature film colourised for a theatrical re-release; although some Hollywood films had been colourised earlier, they were only available for home media. It was subsequently selected for seven international film festivals. Upon release, the film drew crowds to the cinemas, with an overall occupancy of 90 per cent. Subsequently, it completed a 25-week run.

The movie comprises 12 songs and considered the finest in the history of indian cinema.”Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya” .

For all the Indians in India,Mumbai the “Musical” is coming back this march. please if you get a chance please go and watch it.

Folk Theatre

The death of Traditional Form of Theatre.

There has been entertainment, even before Cinemas,Television and of course the internet Explosion. But, Does today’s generation have any idea of how the Entertainment in the past was like ?

The once a upon time trend of Flash mob was InFact the closest one would get to experience live entertainment in the traditional form.

But,have  you heard about  “Tamasha”- not the movie, but a form of entertainment in Maharasthra. Which is driven from a persian word meaning a theatrical entertainment of some kind . was  actually different forms of dance available in maharshtra like the Lavanis,Khatak and ghazals performed by artist in village and rurual environment as a form of entertainment displaying the culture of the place as a tourist attraction and as a way of passing the time.

But,Besides Movies  showcasing this  Form of theatre,This form of theatre   is seeing the death of our culture in the state. Not just in maharshtra,Northern India too hasn’t seen “Ramlila”a dramatic folk re-enactment of the life of Rama, ending up in ten-day battle between Rama  and Ravana.

A form of street play telling you the story of Ramayana, Which in today’s time hasn’t been witnessed by many in the form of play.  Because of the Television,Movies and Social Media giving away the one of the most self validated experience  form of entertainment through Audio Visual and will never be able  through Experiencing it.

We have forgotten what its  like to experience culturally rich form of storytelling in its actual format as plays.

its also because of patience, Fame and Money that performers like to act and be part of the larger mass media reach ,rather than travel across with a team for performances and get some self- satisfaction .That is why this form of entertainment has died a natural death

Nautanki another word for street play used in Uttar Pradesh and for    romantic tales, mythologies, or biographies of local heroes

The pleasure of Nautanki lies in the intense melodic exchanges between two or three performers; a chorus is used sometimes. These performances last 6-8 hours.narrating the complete story in a performance. The artist too have lost the time and the audience too have dwindled to make this form of entertainment nearly extinct

These are some of the most popular forms of entertainment of the past, which have lost its appeal and these need to  be part of the culture once again as novelty experiences,For the youth to realise how things have changed in the past,And for another reason how important its to understand Human Connection.
