Come 2016…After 55 years since its original Release,10 years after its Re-release now comes the “Musical Play “ and the show just wants you to have more and more of the specular show.The sets and The lights, the actors and re-creation of everything from the original was a feast to watch.
I remember,Watching the movie more than 10 years ago,When I was just 12 years and even that time I remember there was so much excitement amongst the family itself we couldn’t wait to watch and that was the same feeling even during the day of the “musical play” And there are few love stories you can watch for the costumes,Large than life experience and this is one of them.
Salim, an emperor’s son, falls in love with a beautiful courtesan. He is determined to be with her, even if it means waging a hopeless war against his father.The movie a classic, First released in 1960 Starring Dilip Kumar, Madhubala and Prithviraj Kapoor, this epic is known for its direction, music, sets, costumes and also for the lead pair: Madhubala and Dilip Kumar ,The film’s conception began in 1944 but it took many years before the film was actually shot. It went through a series of changes. Firstly, the financier had backed out. Secondly, the cast went through several changes and the cost of production for one song was reportedly more than the entire budget of other films that were made at that time. It finally released in 1960 and is said to have broken all records at the box office.
Mughal-e-Azam became the first full-length feature film colourised for a theatrical re-release; although some Hollywood films had been colourised earlier, they were only available for home media. It was subsequently selected for seven international film festivals. Upon release, the film drew crowds to the cinemas,with an overall occupancy of 90 per cent. Subsequently, it completed a 25-week run.
The movie comprises 12 songs and considered the finest in the history of indian cinema.”Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya” .
