“Queen of Katwe” A film by Mira Nair.Is a film Based On a true story,That Sends out a very strong message to the audiences,That no matter what background you belong to,No matter where you come from. You must be given the opportunity to prove yourself. The film revolves around the central character Phiona (Played by Madina Nalwanga) the movie on who it’s actually based and Robert Katende (Played by David Oyelowo, who was last seen playing the role of Sir.Mater Luther King in Salma)Play’s the role of  the coach who start’s training some of the kids in a  ‘ Katwe’,  a small village of Uganda, how to play Chess ,as a part time job,But makes it a full time job when he realises the potential of these kids becoming Master of the game. The amazing part of the story is how they adapt ,and prove their worth by defeating students from the best high school in the Uganda.

The timely expression and dialogues with South African music add the extra touch to make the movie an enjoyable one.

The star Cast also includes Lupita Nyong’O who play’s the role of Phiona mother (Nakku Harriet) (Academy Award winner of “12 Years A Slave”)

The complete star cast and the team involved in the film,Has done a really good job with the movie.

India In A Day!!

“India in a day”Attended the screening of the film and realised there is so much happening in this country in just a day from emotions soaring high to falling low to realising it happens only in India,Where the lawmakers too don’t follow the law.

To realising each day is  a struggle.

To concluded that only the small things matter the most in India.

Bringing a smile on someone’s face to making one happy.

The concept of crowdfunding telling India’s to send a day in India and compiling them in a form of story was apt to get to showcase how really India is.

India as a country is so diverse from religion,Spirituality, Politics,Cinema to cricket and the cultural that’s it’s hard to believe this one country and not many other countries.

Kerala Retreat

Kerela retreat concludes today and their have been one particular highlight of our trip.On our 1st day of sightseeing we booked a OLA Cab and casually asked the driver what are the places here to see ? He replied the only things here to see are the ones left by Britishers,To which we continued asking the locals did not make anything? Yes,Offcourse they made –number of political parties. As our journey continued, and while crossing the bridge there was the political parties flags to which he said the red symbolises Blood,Bloody corrupt.

It was a journey,That made us question

Next time when the Prime Minster takes a tour in India he should travel by ola or He should use the Public Transport to know exactly what the common man is going through in the current scenario.

Folk Theatre

The death of Traditional Form of Theatre.

There has been entertainment, even before Cinemas,Television and of course the internet Explosion. But, Does today’s generation have any idea of how the Entertainment in the past was like ?

The once a upon time trend of Flash mob was InFact the closest one would get to experience live entertainment in the traditional form.

But,have  you heard about  “Tamasha”- not the movie, but a form of entertainment in Maharasthra. Which is driven from a persian word meaning a theatrical entertainment of some kind . was  actually different forms of dance available in maharshtra like the Lavanis,Khatak and ghazals performed by artist in village and rurual environment as a form of entertainment displaying the culture of the place as a tourist attraction and as a way of passing the time.

But,Besides Movies  showcasing this  Form of theatre,This form of theatre   is seeing the death of our culture in the state. Not just in maharshtra,Northern India too hasn’t seen “Ramlila”a dramatic folk re-enactment of the life of Rama, ending up in ten-day battle between Rama  and Ravana.

A form of street play telling you the story of Ramayana, Which in today’s time hasn’t been witnessed by many in the form of play.  Because of the Television,Movies and Social Media giving away the one of the most self validated experience  form of entertainment through Audio Visual and will never be able  through Experiencing it.

We have forgotten what its  like to experience culturally rich form of storytelling in its actual format as plays.

its also because of patience, Fame and Money that performers like to act and be part of the larger mass media reach ,rather than travel across with a team for performances and get some self- satisfaction .That is why this form of entertainment has died a natural death

Nautanki another word for street play used in Uttar Pradesh and for    romantic tales, mythologies, or biographies of local heroes

The pleasure of Nautanki lies in the intense melodic exchanges between two or three performers; a chorus is used sometimes. These performances last 6-8 hours.narrating the complete story in a performance. The artist too have lost the time and the audience too have dwindled to make this form of entertainment nearly extinct

These are some of the most popular forms of entertainment of the past, which have lost its appeal and these need to  be part of the culture once again as novelty experiences,For the youth to realise how things have changed in the past,And for another reason how important its to understand Human Connection.
