Should a brand change it’s identity ?

How strong and important is an identity or in other terms perception,image or positioning .
I was thinking about the article I had read on Tata nano and was wondering how challenging would it be for them to re-positioning the car as a youth car .
In today’s times,when we see people spending about 40K-60K on mobile phones ,to make a statement “yes we can afford this”,Tata nano labelled it’s nano as the “cheapest car “now that tag has becomes too expensive for Tata nano ,since their sales have been declining and while they are trying to reinvent the car and focus on today youth .And with the new car launches every month by other automobiles at a affordable price with great features .It has become a difficult place for the nano
The main point for writing this post was to make you aware of the challenge’s a brand faces while repositioning itself ,even the colourful apple phones failed to make an impact on Indian consumer because it was labelled the “cheapest iPhone”.Its not just brands that occasionally fail while repositioning itself .But also celebrities fail when they change their choices of movie because the audience are used to their star doing a certain genre of film , it becomes another challenge for the celebrities since thier is a strong perception in the mind about a star,For the audience .But with brands they have created an image for themselves in the begging by offering features and services and because of some unknown reason they want to reposition or re brand themselves which gives them new challenges to face .

The Trip!!

Back and just been 3 days ,I have finally written about my first visit to the United States .
This trip ,was more like a family affair,meeting so many family members from dad’s side for the first time ,and dad himself meeting them after ages ,It was rather surprising to meet them ,and see them being so warm and welcoming ,not just the east coast,but the west coast too we had met a few of them.
These last 4 weeks have been really interesting and unexpecting since we hadn’t really heard about a few of them and then meeting them was really good .
These 4 week too were the weeks where we stayed with my dad’s sibling and were taken good care of.This holiday dint feel like a holiday ,it was more like being at home itself .this holiday has been one of those holiday were you wonder how time flew away .
There were also quite a few inspirational stories heard of people who have either struggled ,succeeded and made it big in this country ,where anything is possible .
Now that the trip has come to end ,for the first time in my vacation I don’t feel like going back home .
The only down side were the flight delays and the long journey from home .

United airlines -Never again.

United airlines !
If you thought that’s it’s only India air India that delays the journey ,think again,because the united journey have been really unpleasant ,right from our Zurich flight ,being delayed for 3 hours to our flight from Newark ,to San Francisco and from San Francisco to Las Vegas and now from Las Vegas to Los angles all have been delayed from about 1 hour to 2 hours ,well that’s not all the flights do not include meals ,entertainment screens ,and a few of them too charge for your luggage to be carried ,also it was this airline which did not let us take handbags from Newark to Sanfrancisco since the space had been fully occupied ,but when you have given passengers the benefit to carry a carry on bag per person ,you should at least see how can the benefit still being given to them in a fully occupied flight .
Seriously it’s all the same everywhere and that’s what travel teaches you ,that’s whether it’s the people ,country or a an airlines everything and everywhere is the same ,some realise it early ,while other get to know about it a little late .
But it’s never too late .Just when the holiday was coming to an end
The biggest shocking moment came while coming back to India ,on the flight to Frankfurt which was an 11 hour united flight which did not have the entertainment screen on the seats .How can long international flights not have services like these ?,Indian government airlines are surely much better than the U.S airlines and so I have come to the conclusion
This is undoubtedly the worst airline I have been on .

Vegas !!!

The four day at Las Vegas have been crushing walking around 70k+ steps On the strips ,seeing some wonderful hotels and the fountain show at the Bellagio which ,was one of the highlights of this trip here,the energy ,the seriousness and the relaxed players enjoying the gambling at the casino was worth the watch .
Whether it was poker,blackjack,the slot machines they were mostly all occupied from 8 am with a few young adults. But more off senior citizen ,these fours days we also learnt about how Vegas has changed in the last few years .But now we head to Disneyland in L.A
That’s from being a adult to going back to being a child for the next destination.

Tech visit !!!

The F-a-c-e-b-o-o-k E–f-f -e-c–t!!!
Just arrived at California ,San Jose and while just chatting I asked my cousin ,could we go and see the fb office (since he has got a job with fb)
Was really excited to visit the office and the morning appeared time for sightseeing ,the first stop google HQ this was looking like a fun place to work and a walk around .the next stop is Facebook ,we entered and Mark was busy in a meeting and that was it the moment to get a glimpse of mark was one Wow !!!moment .
The journey had begun and we understood the cultural which is casual ,people in short ,slippers ,who were either lying down and working ,working in the garden space and just like a cafe environment where everybody is in the same surrounding , the senior representatives and the juniors while some were writing algorithm to make it a better Facebook experience for its users ,other were busy brainstorming or working on Instagram .
Everything was on the house for the employee drinks,snacks ,gadgets and a whole lot of food from around the world for the nationalities from the world working at Facebook .
Surely one of these days and visit which give you the privilege of first hand experience of the environment .
